The 2023 ford ranger I installed the Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover required extra brackets because the ford ranger truck bed is designed with little metal to clamp the railings to to the bed of the truck. The MX4 came with the extra brackets that fit perfectly on to the truck bed. That added a little additional time to the install process but in the end it fit perfectly and is very secure.

Excellent shipping and packaging everything was there to put it all together. The only problem I had is cleaning the threads in the holes out from the bed liner that had been sprayed in.

2021 Ford Ranger, 5 foot box. I like the product, but the install was frustrating. The cover rail clamps are not quite long enough on the bed rail side and about 1/8 inch shims are obviously necessary but were not provided. Made my own shims and was able to clamp to the bed rail just barely. I'm going to compensate with jury rigged metal screws. Following the instructions, I first installed the included rail brackets in each corner of the box. Then I learned the instructions make no mention of using them for anything. Upon inquiry during my call, I was told they are no longer used in this design. Considerable time and effort wasted. I do like the BAK tonneau cover and I think I will love it when my home made install improvments are complete.

I have no complaints on the product thus far. It appears sturdy and functions as it should. The instructions need improvement. My vehicle 2020 Ranger’s bed apparently redesigned from 2019. There were additional bags and instructions how to install the modifications but I saw no info in which order the modifications went. I had to backtrack on the installation of the rails. I had to clear a plugged bolt hole from the spray in liner. I was also installing the bed alone which the instructions did say it takes two to install the rails. Over all I am very pleased with the cover. The delivery person said get it on before it snows. It snowed as I was finishing. I recommend the cover.

It is a top notch product but installation in the Ford Ranger is hard. You have to add a bracket to the front and some compression lugs. To get the lugs to compress you have to put a washer on the back side of the bed. Let's say it took me 15 tries for each side. Also if you drill a 3/4 inch hole in the plastic plugs vice 7/8 the hose seats snugly which is ideal in my mind. Find the video of the BakFlip for the new Ranger and save your self a lot of grief.
